The End is Here...

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

The last day of preschool is always so bittersweet! Especially this year! We've had most of these wonderful children for 2 years and have really grown to love them! I can confidently say this group is ready for kindergarten as sad as it is for me to send them!

I've said it many times this year but this class has been a dream. The children make us laugh everyday and always impress us with their creativity and high level thinking. They are so caring and thoughtful to their peers and teachers.  I will miss seeing them every Tuesday and Thursday but hope to see them around town and across the hall when I home to visit CES.

Graduation is Thursday from 8:00-8:30 in the gym. We will meet in the gym on this day. Please arrive a little before 8:00 so we can begin promptly at 8:00 so parents who have to get to work can do so when we are done :)

See you then!

Love, Mrs. Prescott

Week 25

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

I can’t believe the end of the year is here! We have been busy with end of the year assessments and getting ready for kindergarten! The weather has been wonderful and we have been playing on the “big” playground!

Next Thursday is our field trip to Shelburne Farms! If you haven’t turned in your permission slip please do so on Tuesday.

The following Thursday is graduation at 8:00! Please join us in the gym from 8:00-8:45 as we celebrate our preschoolers moving into kindergarten.

Parent teacher conferences will take place after graduation. There is a sign up by the sign in and I will post it here. We will go over end of the year assessments and what you can work on for the summer.

That’s all for now!

Week 23

I just realized this post never published but was saved as a draft but I published it so you can see photos from our field trip! Sorry about that! This week's post is below!

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

We had a very sweet week in preschool! We finished out study of Vermont with Maple Syrup. We made pancakes together on Tuesday and on Thursday we went on our field trip to Palmer Lane Maple. We got to see them boiling sap and got to try fresh maple syrup. The children also got to enjoy a maple creemee.

Next week we will begin our life cycle study. We will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, frogs, and plants. We will also begin our kindergarten transitions. Next week the kindergarten teachers will come in and meet the children and answer their questions about kindergarten. After break we will visit each classroom.

We filled our good behavior bear with Pom Poms today! The preschooler’s decided they want to have a pajama day again so we will have a Pajama Day next Thursday April 5th.

Week 24

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

We have had a busy month in preschool! I can’t believe we are approaching our last month of preschool.  It is so wonderful seeing how far these children have come this year. When we visited kindergarten this week they blended right in and looked like they belonged there!

What Have We Been Up To?
We studied life cycles for the month of April. We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly, frog, and plant. Today we got to plant some grass seeds that will look like hair when it grows J.
We have been getting ready for kindergarten. We have had all of the teacher’s visit us and we have been visiting the kindergarten classrooms.  We have been playing on the “big” playground and practicing dumping our trays at the window in the cafeteria. We also finished the WHOLE ALPHABET! Next week we will have an “alphabet party” to celebrate!
If you child has a shirt with letters on it, have them wear it on Tuesday!

Next Month
We will study space as we blast off to kindergarten! We will focus on numbers 1-10. We will also keep reading books and talking about what next year will look like.
If you haven’t done so already please sign up for kindergarten with Beth in the office!

Dates to Remember
May 1 Alphabet Party
May 17 Field Trip to Shelburne Farms 8:30-1:15 **School ends later on this day**
May 24 Preschool Graduation 8:00-9:00

A note from Mrs. Prescott
I have made the bittersweet decision to resign from my position as preschool teacher so I can stay home with my girls. I will not be returning to CES next school year. I have grown so much as an early educator during my 5 years at CES and have made so many wonderful relationships with both children and families that I will cherish for years to come. I hope to still see the kindergarteners when I bring Cecelia to school!

That’s all for now! Remember April showers bring May flowers!

Week 21

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

This Week
We had such a fun week in preschool! I was a little worried I was going to lose a preschooler in that deep snow today 😉

The children have been having a great time learning about Vermont. This week we studied dairy farming and even “milked” a pretend cow!

We also talked about birds that live in Vermont, our state bird the hermit thrush, and made bird feeders.

We are all the way up to the letter U in the alphabet! Hard to believe we have almost make our way through the whole alphabet!

Next Week
We will study maple sugaring. We will even tap a pretend tree! Thursday is a school wide early release. Preschool is done at 11:30 on this day. We will have lunch at 11:00. Bag lunches are available from the cafeteria.
Please turn your permission slips next week for our field trip to Palmer’s Sugar House.

Dates to Remember

Week 20

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

We have had a “Beary” good day in preschool today. It is such a bummer that the snow days/delays always seem to happen on our preschool days.

This week
We finished our study of Bears with “Bring a Bear Day”. The children had so much fun sharing their bears with the class and teaching the bears all the things we do at school! We also got to have a special snack of Teddy Grahams and got to count them, sort them, and put them in a pattern. We also made some cool bear tracks!

After Break
We will begin out study of Vermont. We will focus on where Vermont is and on maple sugaring. We will end the month with a field trip to Palmer’s Maple in Jericho to see how syrup is made and how maple candy is made! Permission slips will go home after break.

Dates to Remember
February 27- March 6- Winter Break
March 29- Field Trip to Palmer’s Sugar House
May 17- Field Trip to Shelburne Farms
May 24- Preschool Graduation

*If have a child who will be 3 by August 31st please sign up for preschool screening with Beth at the office! This will take place on March 23rd

That’s all for this week! Have a great break with your families!

Week 19

Hello Preschool Families and Friends,

We had such a lovely week in preschool!

This Week
We have been having so much fun learning about bears and we had a wonderful Valentine’s Day party. Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it.

We have also been learning about what to do when we have a strong feeling. When we feel angry, mad, frustrated, disappointed, or even sad we:
1.       Put our hands on our tummy and say “Stop”
2.       Name our feeling
3.       Take belly breaths
The preschoolers really do well with this and this is a tool you can use at home to help them regulate their strong emotions.

Next Week
We will finish our study of bears. On Thursday please send your child with a teddy bear or a toy bear of some sort. If you do not have one don’t worry, we have extra. We will also learn about the letter S.

Dates to Remember
February 22- Bring a Bear to School Day
February 27- March 6- Winter Break
May 17- Field Trip to Shelburne Farms
May 24- Preschool Graduation

That’s all for this week!
